MINI Named as the Best Movie Car
Italian Job Coopers pip Knight Rider to the title

The three Mini Coopers from the Italian Job have been named as the best movie cars of all time.

The small cars beat 20 other motoring icons in a poll of over 2,000 movie fans.

KITT, the Knight Rider car, was voted the second most popular, followed by James Bond's Aston Martin Vanquish from Die Another Day.

Loveable Beetle Herbie the Lovebug came in fourth ahead of Michael J Fox's Dolorean from the Back to the Future trilogy.

Other cars that completed the top ten included Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the Batmobile, General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard, Lady Penelope's pink Rolls-Royce from the Thunderbirds and Bumblebee, the 2008 Chevrolet Camaro, from the Transformers film.

“The survey shows that it's not always actors who are the stars of the show,” said Tracey Hyem, brand manager at Uniroyal, which carried out the research.
